Our Event
For several days, the marathon brings together dancers from different parts of the world, creating an atmosphere of shared passion in our colorful corner of Bilbao, in the Basque Country, famous for its food and wine. Here, participants, surrounded by couples who share their love and dedication to tango, can enjoy social dancing by day and by night in the captivating halls of the historic monument: Palacio Oriol.

We will have Live Music with the DUO Guerrero-Capitano playing two sets during the marathon and Leonel Capitano will be giving his very unique and practical musicality classes during the event.
Location
We have a stunning place to dance at this tango marathon in Bilbao!

URH Palacio de Oriol, in the Santurce district of Bilbao. Dance and sleep in a 1906 palace restored and converted into a hotel, declared a Historic Monument.

Dance in a spectacular room with large windows overlooking the Bilbao estuary and the fishing port of Santurce. We will install a 200mq wooden dance floor to keep your feet fresh for dancing.

We will set up the terraces of the hotel to enjoy, chat, eat and continue dancing in the summer sun.

The centre of Santurce is a 5 minute walk away and the centre of Portugalete and the historic Hanging Bridge of Bizkaia are 10 minutes away. Try the typical ‘pintxos’ of the Basque Country or eat a delicious lunch menu in a variety of nearby restaurants.

Public Transport: 6 minutes walk to Peñota metro station and 2 minutes walk to Peñota train station, which take you to the centre of Bilbao. Bilbao airport is 25 minutes away and Santander airport is 1 hour away.

If you have a motorhome or campervan, or come by car, you can park easily in the public parking spaces in the street below the hotel.

Meet the DJs
Music is the soul of Bilbao Tango Marathon. We have chosen experienced DJs who we know can keep the party going and can create a special atmosphere for you, the dancers, to delve deeply into the rhythms and expressiveness of tango. Each DJ will bring their own special touch to their session.

Live Music
Duo Guerrero-Capitano will be playing some very danceable tandas for us on Friday and Saturday night.
Agustín Guerrero on piano and Leonel Capitano on bandoneon and vocals. They are two musicians of excellence in their own right with various projects in tango and non-tango and have brought together their years of experience to create a new album of interpreted tangos: ‘Noches Largas’.

Palacio Oriol is located between the neighborhoods of Santurtzi and Portugalete - two very characterful and beautiful corners of Bilbao. The hotel is a five minute walk from the Peñota metro stop and one minute from the Peñota train station.
It is a very busy area, full of restaurants, bars and other accommodation options. Here are some suggestions.
